Best neighborhoods to stay in Lisbon

The Baixa

The Baixa neighborhood is a great option to sleep in Lisbon as it is the most central area of the city. This means that you won’t have to worry about public transportation because the main tourist attractions such as the Lisbon Cathedral and Praça do Comercio are located nearby. In addition, it is perfectly connected to other Lisbon neighborhoods by streetcar, bus and subway lines.

This area is distinguished from others by its vast examples of Pombaline architecture. The buildings that take place here are very elegant, and in the past, it was one of the main business areas of the city, housing important banking and corporate firms.

It is worth noting that many of these buildings have now been converted into hotels or youth hostels. And, despite its wide range of high and low-end hotel accommodation, being such a popular area it is not easy to find availability in the busiest tourist months.
